The last few DJ mixes I’ve posted have been mixes that I found in my archives recorded around 2005/6 when I was DJing at venues like Cafe ABC in Crystal Palace and Hakkasan in London.
Inspired by these mixes I put together this mix of mostly Nujazz tracks.

Another DJ Mix from my archives … This mix is probably best fits into the downtempo pigeon hole. Recorded in September 2006 this is a good representation of what I was playing back then.
A mix of Downtempo, Chillout, Nu Jazz, Brazilian, Latin & Chilled House etc.
At the time of this mix I was resident DJ at Cafe ABC (Crystal Palace, UK) and I also held a 5 night DJ residency at upmarket restaurant and cocktail lounge Hakkasan in the west-end of London.
Although these days most of my DJ Sets are squarely focused in the Funk and Soul arena I still love the downtempo, nujazz, brazilian sounds. Finding these old sets has inspired me to put some new sets together in this vein … watch this space for more mixes coming soon.

I’ve been digging through some of my old mix cds and came across a few of the old mixes I did when I was one of the resident DJ’s at Cafe ABC in Crystal Palace (London, UK). Back then I was playing mostly downtempo, nujazz, acid jazz, house etc.
Sadly Cafe ABC is no longer there, but was a fantastic basement bar.
I remember the first night I DJ’d at Cafe ABC, it was my first public DJ gig and I was ultra nervous to be playing records in front of a crowd. It was fireworks night so Crystal Palace was busy with all the people coming to see the display on Crystal Palace Park. I turned up at Cafe ABC to discover the mixer was broken! So I had to make a dash home to grab my mixer, luckily I only lived 5 minutes away. It was a frantic start to what turned out to me an awesome night. The bar was rammed and loads of friends turned up to show their support.
This is Volume One of The Cafe ABC Sessions. These mixes are a little different to the funk and soul music I play these days. I certainly enjoyed listening back to these mixes and I hope other people do too.
